Amanda J. Thackray is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Printmaking at Purchase College's School of Art+Design. She holds a BFA from Rutgers University and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Her multidisciplinary practice focuses on ecofeminist themes, exploring intersections between nature, industry, and human experience through installation, sculpture, book arts, and public art.
Research & Practice: Thackray's work examines ecological change and industrialization, using meticulous detail to create layered compositions that evoke both beauty and unease. Notable projects include Drizzle (Seeded Rainstorm Trail) (2024), a site-specific installation integrating wildflower seeds into paper raindrops that germinate over time, and collaborations like CURRENTS: Collaborative Art and Ecology on the Passaic River.
