Amanda J. Godley

Amanda J. Godley is the Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and a Professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Leading at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Education. She also holds secondary appointments in Linguistics and the Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies Program, and is affiliated with the Center for Urban Education, the Honors College, and the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC).

Dr. Godley’s research focuses on equity and diversity in education, sociolinguistics, and educational technology. She specializes in classroom discussions, dialect inclusion, and peer review of writing, particularly in urban settings. Her recent work applies Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning to develop tools for literacy instruction and discourse analysis.

Her publications highlight interdisciplinary collaborations in educational technology, including data corpora for classroom discourse analysis and AI-driven feedback systems. She has led funded projects from the National Science Foundation, Spencer Foundation, and Institute of Education Sciences, emphasizing scalable solutions for educational equity.
