Amanda Colon

Amanda Colon serves as Assistant Professor in the Veterinary Technology Program within Mercy University's School of Health and Natural Sciences, holding a full-time position since October 2017 after transitioning from adjunct roles at Mercy University, Iona College, and Lehman College. She maintains active clinical practice as a part-time small animal veterinarian at Thornwood Animal Hospital while completing certification in small animal acupuncture.

Her research centers on student success and metacognition in higher education, with recent collaborative work examining overconfidence in college students during examinations. Teaching expertise spans veterinary sciences, medical microbiology, nutrition, human anatomy and physiology, and parasitology across veterinary technology, nursing, and medical programs.
