Amanda Cahill-Ripley

Dr Amanda Cahill-Ripley is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Strathclyde, serving as Director of Post-Graduate Research for Law and AHRI Lead for the International Law and Human Rights Unit. She holds visiting roles at Lancaster University and the University of Bergen. Her expertise lies in international human rights law, particularly economic, social, and cultural rights (ESCR), focusing on their intersections with conflict, peacebuilding, and transformative justice.

Her research explores socio-economic rights in crisis contexts, poverty and homelessness in the UK, and human rights advocacy. Key publications include monographs on ESCR and peacebuilding (forthcoming CUP) and socio-economic rights limitations (BUP, 2025). She collaborates with UN agencies, international law centres, and policy bodies like the Scottish Parliament.

Dr Cahill-Ripley teaches modules on International Human Rights Law, Transitional Justice, and Law and Global Health at Strathclyde. Her professional activities include roles on the AHRI Executive Board, the International Transformative Justice Network Steering Group, and external examining at Northumbria University. She actively engages in policy consultations, expert meetings, and international conferences on human rights and conflict resolution.
