Alyssa Vanderlinden

Dr. Alyssa Vanderlinden is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at New Mexico State University. She specializes in clinical biomechanics with dual research foci: gait dysfunction in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and mobility challenges in older adults. Dr. Vanderlinden earned her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from UTEP and completed postdoctoral training at Arizona State University.

Her research examines:

• Biomechanical markers of gait instability in neurological populations
• Motor control differences during dual-task paradigms
• Development of assistive technologies including wearable robots

Recent publications demonstrate methodological approaches combining motion capture technology, instrumented treadmills, and novel assessment protocols to quantify movement pathology. Research identifies distinctive kinetic patterns in autistic children and age-related postural control deficits.
