About
Alyssa Sokol is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Astronomy at Vassar College's Department of Physics and Astronomy. Her astrophysics research focuses on the co-evolution of galaxies and supermassive black holes using multi-wavelength observations.
Sokol investigates active galactic nuclei in infrared-luminous galaxies, developing new models to understand dust-obscured black hole growth. She is pioneering theoretical work on multi-dimensional time through geometrically unfolding coordinate systems.
Her research explores how different AGN torus models affect luminosity function estimates, suggesting that traditional models may underestimate obscured AGN populations in composite galaxies.
