Alyse Pflanz

Alyse Pflanz is a Lecturer in the Department of Management at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK), within the College of Business & Technology. She serves as the Director of the Center for Economic Education and the Business Teacher Education Coordinator, promoting economic and financial literacy across Nebraska.

Education:

• M.A.Ed. in Higher Education Administration, University of Nebraska – Lincoln
• B.A.Ed. in 6-12 Career Business Education, University of Nebraska – Kearney

Her research and professional focus centers on economics, finance, management, and business education, particularly in the context of K–12 teacher preparation and curriculum implementation for personal finance. She is currently completing her PhD in Educational Studies at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, with a dissertation titled: Exploring Teacher Preparation and Experiences in Implementing Nebraska's Mandated Personal Finance Course, using a mixed methods design.

Alyse has received multiple awards recognizing her innovation, teaching, and service, including the Outstanding Innovation in Digital Teaching Award, Outstanding Faculty Service Award, Teaching Untenured Award from UNK, and the B.E.S.T. Award from the Nebraska Department of Education. Her work has been featured in newspapers, on NTV, and supported by two grants.

She actively mentors future educators through the Business Teacher Education program and contributes to professional service as a Board Member of the Nebraska FBLA Advisory Council, Executive Board Member of the Nebraska State Business Education Association, and academic consultant with the Nebraska Department of Education. She is also a nationally certified W!se Personal Finance Instructor.

Professional Memberships include: National Business Education Association (NBEA), MBAA International, Society for Case Research (SCR), and National Association of Economic Educators (NAEE).
