Alysa Story

Alysa Story is a part-time Adjunct Professor of Motion Media at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Atlanta, GA, since 2020. She holds an M.F.A. in Broadcast Design from SCAD and a B.A. in Art from Spelman College. Her expertise spans digital communication, motion media design, and production design.

Her professional experience includes roles as an Art Director at CNN Domestic Graphics (2011–2019), where she contributed to Emmy-winning projects like the CNN Heroes All Star Tribute, and as a manager at TBS (2000–2005), overseeing network redesigns and branding. She founded Story Design Studios (2005–2020), offering services in logo design, web, and motion graphics for clients like Gospel Music Channel and Spelman College.

Research interests include visual storytelling, animation history, and interdisciplinary design collaboration. Her work emphasizes bridging technical skills with creative vision, as seen in her MFA thesis film Keyframes: Turning Points in Motion Design, recognized with a Telly and AIGA Seed Award.

Notable awards include an Emmy (2016), multiple Telly Awards, and PROMAX/BDA Gold (2013). She is a member of AIGA and NAASC, and volunteers as a Steward for littlefreelibrary.org.

Her teaching spans Motion Design, Animation History, and Graphic Design at SCAD and the Art Institute of Atlanta (2007–2011), where she developed coursework integrating technical and creative skills.
