Alvydas Lukys is a Full Professor and Chair of the Photography and Media Arts Department at Vilnius Academy of Arts. He has been affiliated with the institution since 1990, serving as Head of Photo Studio, Head of Image Studio, and co-founder of the Photography and Video Art Department. Born in 1958 in Šiauliai, he graduated from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (formerly Vilnius Engineering Construction Institute) in 1984. His artistic practice focuses on themes of remembrance and everyday culture, complemented by curatorial work in cultural anthropology and contemporary photography.

- Solo exhibitions: 'Invaluable Collections' (2015), 'The Steps' (2013), and 'DJV. Sublimed reality' (2008/2009)
- Group exhibitions include 'TTL Point of View' (international touring), 'Cafe Europa. La Metafota Com A Resistentia' (2014), and numerous Baltic and European shows since 1986
As a curator, he has organized key exhibitions like 'TTL Point of View' series and 'Subjective Documents' (1993). His works are collected by institutions such as the Lithuanian Art Museum and Denmark's Brandts Museum of Photographic Art.
