Alten F. Grandt

Alten F. Grandt is the Raisbeck Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University. He holds a B.S. (1968), M.S. (1969), and Ph.D. (1971) in General Engineering and Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research focuses on damage-tolerant structures, fatigue/fracture mechanics, aging aircraft, and nondestructive inspection, with a strong emphasis on corrosion effects and numerical/experimental methods. He leads the Fatigue and Fracture Laboratory at Purdue, equipped with advanced testing machinery and microscopy for structural integrity studies.
