Professor Alta Schutte is the SHARP Professor and Principal Theme Lead of Cardiac, Vascular and Metabolic Medicine at UNSW Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health. She serves as Global Co-Director of The George Institute's Cardiovascular Program and Head of its Blood Pressure Program, while holding a NHMRC Investigator Grant Leadership Fellowship.
Research Focus: Her work centers on global blood pressure reduction strategies through awareness campaigns (May Measurement Month), novel treatment approaches (triple single pill combinations), and device validation (WHO technical specifications). She leads international consortia including NCD-RisC and Global Burden of Disease hypertension subgroups.
