Allison Sylvetsky

Allison Sylvetsky is an Associate Professor at the George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health, Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. She is affiliated with the Sumner M. Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness and the Global Food Institute.

Her research focuses on sugar-sweetened beverages, low-calorie sweeteners, and their physiological and behavioral impacts on children. She employs mixed-methods and cross-disciplinary approaches in laboratory and community settings to address obesity, diabetes, and dietary patterns.

Recent publications highlight her work on sweetener pharmacokinetics, gut microbiome interactions, dietary interventions, and pandemic-related health behaviors. She serves as Principal Investigator for NIH-funded studies on low-calorie sweeteners in children.

Teaching roles include EXNS 1109 (Professional Foundations in Nutrition Science), EXNS 3995 (Undergrad Research), and PUBH 6010 (Independent Study).
