About
Allison Roessler is an Assistant Professor of Materials Chemistry and Program Coordinator for the Chemistry Department at Oglethorpe University. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Franciscan University of Steubenville and a Ph.D. in Chemistry and Scientific Computing from the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on polymer chemistry, mechanochemistry, and catalysis, utilizing computational methods to explore reaction mechanisms under mechanical forces. Recent work includes studies on mechanochemical release of N-heterocyclic carbenes and stereoselective polymerization via ion-pairing approaches.
Roessler has been recognized with the 2024 Early Career Faculty Award. Her teaching emphasizes metacognitive strategies and active learning, fostering scientific literacy and independent thinking among students. She leads a research group exploring smart materials responsive to mechanical stimuli, with a focus on developing computational tools for mechanochemical pathway analysis.
