Allison M. Okamura is the Richard W. Weiland Professor of Engineering at Stanford University with joint appointments in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. She serves as Director of Graduate Studies for Mechanical Engineering and Deputy Director of the Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute.
Her CHARM Lab develops haptic systems for medical robotics, rehabilitation, and virtual environments. Current projects include wearable textile-based haptics, soft growing robots for navigation, and advanced teleoperation systems. She leads clinical trials on stroke rehabilitation using compliant arm supports and vibrotactile stimulation.
Okamura has received numerous honors including IEEE Fellowship and the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Distinguished Service Award. Her teaching includes courses on haptic system design, dynamic systems, and medical robotics.
