Allan Madden

Allan Madden is a Lecturer in History of Art at the University of Glasgow, specializing in modern and contemporary art. His research focuses on artists' publications, queer publishing, and 20th-century art dealership. He holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh (2011 MLitt, University of Glasgow).

Research Interests:

• Queer craft and zine collecting
• Surrealist publishing practices
• Gender, dandyism, and queer domesticity in art
• Historical roles of art dealers and patrons

Teaching: Courses include 'Publishing the Avant-Garde', 'Methodology', and modern art history modules. Active in both undergraduate and senior honours teaching.

Affiliations: Member of Edinburgh College of Art's Dada/Surrealism and SEXES Research Groups. Supports University of Glasgow's Smithsonian Institution partnership.
