Aliz Tóth

Aliz Tóth is an Assistant Professor of Political Science in the Department of Government at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her research focuses on state capacity, bureaucracy, and the politics of natural resources in India, particularly examining conflict over land acquisition for infrastructure projects. She employs mixed methods including original surveys, field experiments, observational data, and in-depth interviews. Her work addresses critical questions about governance and development in resource-rich contexts.

Her key expertise spans the political economy of development, land politics, and bureaucratic dynamics. She contributes to debates on how state institutions navigate challenges in resource allocation and infrastructure projects. Tóth’s current book manuscript investigates the root causes of land acquisition disputes in India, offering insights into institutional failures and socio-political tensions.
