Alix Pierre, Ph.D., is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of African Diaspora and the World at Spelman College since 2004. He holds a Ph.D. from Florida State University and degrees from Université de La Sorbonne, Paris III. His research focuses on artistic responses in diglossic contexts within the African Diaspora, with expertise in Francophone studies and Caribbean griot traditions. He has authored books on diasporic women writers and Guadeloupean gwoka music.
- Teaches courses including French literature, advanced grammar, and African Diaspora studies.
- Former project manager for DVCAI-ARTOCARPE International Cultural Exchange in Guadeloupe.
- Coordinated the University of Guyana-Atlanta University Center Collaborative Project.
- Community service includes curriculum development for refugee resettlement in Georgia with World Relief.
Active in academic leadership roles: editorial board member of Caribbean Vistas and Negritude review, officer of the Caribbean Writers Congress, and board member at the Latin American and Caribbean Community Center.
