Alissa Mercurio Rowe serves as Associate Professor and Galante Director of Choral Studies at Louisiana State University's School of Music, recognized for her energetic, inclusive, and innovative approach to artistic education and performance.
Her academic foundation includes a Doctor of Musical Arts from Louisiana State University alongside dual Master of Music degrees (Conducting and Vocal Performance), a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, and K-12 Teacher Certification from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Rowe's research centers on individual assessment methodologies in choral rehearsals, presented at the 2019 ACDA National Conference and 2020 International Conference on Arts and Humanities, while her performance expertise spans Baroque to contemporary repertoire including Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Masses, and French operatic arias from early 19th century New Orleans featured in her 2021 album release.
Her distinguished accolades comprise the Irene Pennington Endowed Professorship (2018-2021), St. Tammany Parish President’s Award (2019), Musical Artist of the Year (2012), and Southeastern Louisiana University’s President’s Award for Excellence in Artistic Activity (2013).
