Alissa S. Chen, MD, MPH, is a Research Fellow in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Yale School of Medicine. She completed her MD at McGovern Medical School (2019), MPH at University of Texas Health Science Center (2018), and BS in Human Biology at University of Texas, Austin (2013). Her clinical training includes residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Yale Primary Care Program.
Her research focuses on obesity management in older adults, healthcare policy related to anti-obesity medications, and disparities in prescription drug access. Notable contributions include systematic reviews on anti-obesity medication efficacy in elderly populations and analyses of Medicare eligibility criteria for weight-loss therapies.
Dr. Chen has published extensively on geriatric health, healthcare quality metrics, and interprofessional education. Recent work includes studies on cost-related drug rationing among obese adults and influenza vaccination patterns in veterans. She is affiliated with Yale’s National Clinician Scholars Program and Geriatric Clinical Epidemiology Program.
