Alison Wellford

Alison Wellford is an Associate Professor and Director of the Pan-European MFA in Creative Writing at Cedar Crest College. She holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.F.A. from Queens University of Charlotte. Her work focuses on fiction, nonfiction, and cross-genre writing, exploring themes of art, desire, and identity through lyrical prose. Wellford’s debut novel Indolence (2014) and screenplay adaptation have garnered critical acclaim, including Pushcart Prize nominations. She has received prestigious fellowships from The MacDowell Colony, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund.

Her research interests intersect literature with visual arts, particularly through examinations of Impressionist painting and its influence on narrative structure. Wellford has conducted readings and lectures across Europe and the U.S., including at Lehigh University and the Jean Cocteau Cinema. Her creative work often blends eroticism with existential inquiry, focusing on young protagonists navigating familial and romantic complexities.
