Alison Morven Hamilton-Pryde is an Associate Professor at Heriot Watt University, holding roles in the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society; School of Textiles & Design, and affiliated with the Institute for Sustainable Building Design. She also maintains professional practice as a Senior Interior Architect.
Education: BDes (Hons) in Interior/Environmental Design from University of Dundee (2005), Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching in Further Education from University of Stirling (2013). Prior to Heriot Watt, she taught at City of Glasgow College (2013-2014) and worked in multidisciplinary design firms.
Research Focus: Inclusive environments, universal design, intergenerational design, interdisciplinary collaboration, dementia-friendly spaces, and student transitions. She has led projects like the Lost in Space initiative supporting dementia patients through design innovation.
Recent publications emphasize aging populations, public health ecosystems, and interdisciplinary education in construction. Over 6 awards include the Celebrating our Values Award- “Inspire” (2020) and a Fellowship (2024).
Advising includes a 2015-2016 project with The Kinross-shire Partnership for an aviation knowledge hub. Funded initiatives include QAA Enhancement Fund-supported student transition programs.
