Alison Holmes

Alison Holmes is a Professor of Infectious Diseases at Imperial College London's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Infectious Disease. She directs the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Healthcare Associated Infections and AMR and the Centre for Antimicrobial Optimisation (CAMO), while serving as an Infectious Disease consultant within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She currently holds the presidency of the International Society for Infectious Diseases and maintains active roles in global health governance.

Her research program centers on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through multidisciplinary approaches integrating epidemiology, public health, and precision medicine. She pioneers innovative technologies for infection prevention and antibiotic optimization, with significant global impact through international collaborations across India, South Africa, Vietnam, and Thailand. Her work bridges clinical practice, policy development, and technological innovation to address critical gaps in infectious disease management.
