Alison Binney is Senior Teaching Associate for the Secondary PGCE English course at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Education. She holds an MA in English and MPhil in American Literature from Clare College, Cambridge, and a PGCE in English and Drama from Oxford University.
Her research explores teachers as writers, trainee teacher identity development, and poetry pedagogy. She is currently investigating trainee teachers' emerging identities as teacher-writers. Binney is also an accomplished poet whose debut pamphlet 'Other Women's Kitchens' won the Mslexia Pamphlet Competition (Seren Books, 2021).
She maintains dual roles at Cambridge and The Netherhall School, where she teaches two days weekly. She founded the Cambridge branch of the National Writing Project (NWP) and is a member of NATE.
