Alisa Johnson is an Associate Professor of English and Assistant Dean of the College of Arts & Humanities at Meredith College. She specializes in American and African American literature, film studies, women’s literature, and horror fiction. Her research focuses on African American writers and critical theory, serving as the critical theory editor for the Obsidian journal. She holds an A.B. from Guilford College, an A.M., and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Johnson’s work includes articles on literary figures like Ann Petry, Lucille Clifton, and Shirley Jackson, exploring themes of cultural identity and social justice.
