Aline Remael is a full-time Professor of Translation Theory, Interpreting, and Audiovisual Translation/Media Accessibility at the University of Antwerp's Department of Applied Linguistics/Translators and Interpreters. She previously served as Department Chair (2013-2018) and is affiliated with the TricS research group.
- Primary research focus: AVT/Media Accessibility including audio description and live subtitling with speech recognition
- Secondary interests: Hybrid translation/interpreting forms and their convergences
Active in European Erasmus+ projects (ADLAB PRO, ILSA) and co-founded OPEN - the Expertise Centre for Accessible Media and Culture at UAntwerp. Current board member of ENPSIT and former member of ESIST and EST boards. Recipient of the 2018 ESIST Jan Ivarsson Award.
