Dr. Alice Gooding is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Kennesaw State University's Department of Geography and Anthropology. She specializes in biological anthropology with a focus on osteology, forensic anthropology, and bone biomechanics. Her research explores bone adaptation to physical activity, blast trauma effects on skeletons, and craniometric analysis. She teaches courses on the human skeleton, forensic anthropology, and biological anthropology.
Education: BA in Anthropology from Occidental College, MA in Archaeological Resource Management from University of Georgia, PhD in Anthropology from University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She previously served as a research assistant at the UTK Forensic Anthropology Center.
Research activities include directing the Bone Biomechanics Lab and Forensic Anthropology Field Lab (FAFL), which investigate human skeletal adaptation through sport studies and clandestine grave recovery techniques. Lab equipment includes pQCT scanners and Avizo software for 3D modeling.
