Ali Yazdani

Ali Yazdani is James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of Physics at Princeton, directing the Princeton Quantum Initiative and Princeton Center for Complex Materials. His laboratory develops high-resolution microscopy techniques to visualize quantum phenomena in correlated electron systems.

Research focuses on emergent quantum phases including topological insulators, unconventional superconductivity, and quantum Hall systems. Recent work explores magic-angle graphene systems and their exotic electronic states.

Honored with the 2023 Oliver E. Buckley Prize and 2025 Fritz London Memorial Prize, he leads multiple NSF and DOE-funded projects investigating quantum materials. Current graduate students work on topological edge states and correlated Chern insulators.
