Ali Michael, Ph.D., is an academic researcher and Director of K-12 Consulting and Professional Development at the Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education at the University of Pennsylvania. She also directs the Race Institute for K-12 Educators, focusing on racial identity and equity in education. Her work explores the role of race in classrooms and the personal journey of understanding racial dynamics, particularly for white individuals. Michael is the author of Raising Race Questions: Whiteness, Inquiry and Education (2015) and co-editor of Everyday White People Confront Racial and Social Injustice: 15 Stories (2015). She frequently speaks on topics related to racial justice, including her TEDxCheltenham talk titled "How Can I Have a Positive Racial Identity? I'm White!" (2017). Her research interests center on racial equity strategies in education, white racial identity development, and anti-racist pedagogy.
