Ali M. Niknejad is the Donald O. Pederson Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) at UC Berkeley. He serves as Faculty Co-Director of the Berkeley Wireless Research Center (BWRC), Associate Director of the Center for Ubiquitous Connectivity (CUbiC), and former Associate Director of ComSenTer. His research spans wireless and broadband communications, biomedical imaging, integrated circuit design, device physics, and applied electromagnetics.
- Education: Ph.D. (2000), M.S. (1997) in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkeley; B.S. (1994) in Electrical Engineering from UCLA.
Dr. Niknejad’s work focuses on mm-Wave/RF circuits, inductive power transfer, RFID systems, and digital beamforming arrays. He has pioneered advancements in 5G+ technologies, THz communication, and low-power biomedical sensors.
Scientific Awards: 2024 IEEE SSCS Innovative Education Award, 2020 SRC/SIA University Research Award, 2017 IEEE CASS Darlington Best Paper Award, 2012 IEEE Fellow, and 2012 ASEE Frederick Emmons Terman Award.
