Ali Jones is an Assistant Professor at the Research Centre for Peace and Security, specializing in political protest movements, radical political violence, and left-wing social movements. They focus on histories 'from below,' rejecting security studies frameworks. Co-leading the 'Social Movements and Contentious Politics' theme at CTPSR, they supervise graduate students on antifascism research.
Research interests include German Autonomie (particularly Hamburg’s Rote Flora), radical histories of the 1970s-90s, and contemporary antifascist movements. They co-organize the Worldwide Antifascism Research Network (WARN) and European Antifascism Research Network (EARN). Recent work examines antifascist counterpublics and spatial sovereignty in squatted spaces.
