Ali Bilgic is a Professor of International Relations and Security at Loughborough University, UK, and holds the role of School Director of Global Engagement. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor at Bilkent University (Turkey) and as the Prince Claus Chair in Development and Equity at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (2017-2019). He holds a PhD from Aberystwyth University and an MA from Lund University.
His research focuses on Middle East politics, security studies, postcolonial and feminist international relations, and trust-building mechanisms. Key publications include Rethinking Security in the Age of Migration (2013) and Turkey, Power and the West (2016), with a co-authored work Positive Security (2022). Bilgic leads projects such as the Norwegian Research Council-funded 'Disinformation and People' (2021-2025) and the Church of England-funded 'BAME Intercultural Worshipping Communities' (2019-2024).
