Professor Ali Ansari is a faculty member at the School of History of the University of St Andrews, specializing in modern Iranian history. His research focuses on the development of the Iranian state, ideology and myth construction, nation-building processes, and Iran's relationship with the West.
His work contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals through political and cultural historical analysis. Current projects include the Leverhulme Visiting Professorship (2024-2026) and FCO Fellowship (2020-2022) examining British-Iranian relations.
