Alfredo Ramon Morte

Alfredo Ramon Morte is a Full Professor in the Department of Regional Geographic Analysis and Physical Geography at the University of Alicante. He also serves as Director of the Interuniversity Institute of Geography and has held leadership roles in academic governance, including membership on the Governing Council of the Valencian Cartographic Institute.

Recent scientific awards include the Guillem-Ferrer Joan Lluís Bertrán Award and recognition for his doctoral thesis through the National Publications Award from the Ministry of Agriculture (1994). He has coordinated 14 public research projects since 2016, including the ongoing Usque a Sucrone ad Carthaginem Novam (2024-2027).

As an academic advisor, he has directed 5 doctoral theses and 26 postgraduate theses in the last five years. His lab, the Geomática Laboratory at the Interuniversity Institute of Geography, focuses on open-source GIS development and cadastral data systems.
