Dr. Alfredo Palacios is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Mental Health Counseling Coordinator in the Department of Counseling and Human Services at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. He holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision from the University of New Mexico, where he also completed his M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and B.A. in Sociology. As a practicing clinician, he specializes in person-centered existential counseling for adults and youth.
His research examines social-emotional learning and mindfulness interventions for at-risk youth, while critically examining existential and humanistic theories for broader applicability across diverse populations. Current investigations focus on adapting therapeutic frameworks for multicultural contexts and ethical challenges in counseling practice.
Dr. Palacios hosts the Theory of Change Podcast exploring sociological and philosophical dimensions of helping professions.
