Alexis Reedy-Cooper

Alexis Reedy-Cooper, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Penn State College of Medicine. She serves as Director of the Family and Community Medicine Residency Program at Penn State Health St. Joseph in Reading, Pennsylvania. Her roles include curriculum oversight, resident mentoring, and advancing residency education in population health, research, and quality improvement.

Her research focuses on medication safety, quality of care, and complex patient populations such as superutilizers. Notable projects include studies on medication adherence in pediatric HIV patients, factors influencing medication reconciliation accuracy, and addiction management in primary care. She collaborates on initiatives to improve care for underserved communities and chronically ill patients.

Teaching: Dr. Reedy-Cooper teaches clinical skills, evidence-based medicine, and population health across learner levels. She mentors residents and medical students in research and serves on the Medical Student Research Committee. She previously advised the LionCare student-run clinic, fostering student engagement in community health.

Clinical Work: She specializes in complex patient care, including home visits for home-bound patients and chronic pain management. Her clinical interests extend to addiction management and group visit models for patients with multimorbidity.

Labs/Teams: Works with the Family and Community Medicine Residency to develop curricula for home visits and population health. Engages in interdisciplinary collaborations on harm reduction strategies and primary care innovations.
