Alexis Easley is a Professor of English and affiliated with Communication Studies at the University of St. Thomas, located in St. Paul, Minnesota. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Oregon, awarded with distinction. Her research focuses on Victorian literature and culture, media history, gender studies, and digital humanities.
Her expertise includes 19th-century journalism, literary celebrity, and the intersection of gender with Victorian authorship and print media. She has authored or co-edited numerous books, including New Media and the Rise of the Popular Woman Writer (2021), Literary Celebrity, Gender, and Victorian Authorship (2011), and First-Person Anonymous (2004). Current projects involve Eliza Cook: Poet of the People, funded by a National Endowment for the Humanities stipend, and British Writers, Popular Literature, and New Media Innovation (under contract).
Easley’s work bridges historical and contemporary digital humanities approaches, with a focus on Victorian women writers, mass-market poetry, and media studies. She has received grants and fellowships supporting her research, including the UST University Scholars program (2021–2024).
