Alexis E. Block

Alexis E. Block is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering at Case Western Reserve University's Case School of Engineering. Her research focuses on human-robot interaction, social robotics, and tactile sensor technologies. She holds a Doctor of Science in Computer Science from ETH Zurich and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (2021), a Master of Science in Robotics from the University of Pennsylvania (2017), and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania (2016).

Her research interests include advancing haptic technologies for social robotics and human-robot collaboration. She has received the Otto Hahn Medal (2022) and the EuroHaptics Best Hands-On Demo Award (2022). Dr. Block is actively involved in professional organizations, including IEEE/RAS Technical Committees for Human-Robot Interaction and Haptics. She has also served as a Computing Innovations (CI) Fellow at UCLA from 2021 to 2023.
