About
Alexey Bobtsov is a Professor and Head of the Adaptive and Nonlinear Control Systems Lab at the Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics, ITMO University. With over 22 years of research and teaching experience, he has served in roles ranging from engineer to lead researcher.
Education:
- 1996 – Graduated from St. Petersburg Institute of Fine Mechanics and Optics
- 1999 – PhD in System Analysis, Control, and Data Processing
- 2006 – DSc in System Analysis, Control, and Data Processing
- 2008 – Awarded Professor title in Control Systems and Computer Science
His research focuses on adaptive and robust control systems, nonlinear systems, and delay control, with applications in robotics. He has an extensive publication record (over 400 publications) and holds editorial roles in prominent journals like Journal of Instrument Engineering and Automation and Remote Control.
Scientific Awards:

Bobtsov has supervised 11 doctoral students (8 PhD, 3 DSc) and contributes to international organizations including the European Control Association and IFAC’s Technical Committee 2.3 on Non-Linear Control Systems.
