Alexei Shadrin

Alexei Shadrin is a Lecturer at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) within the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. His academic career spans institutions including RWTH Aachen, University of Bonn, and Novosibirsk Computing Center. He is a member of the Numerical Analysis and Computational Mathematics Group.

Research interests include Approximation Theory with a focus on spline and polynomial interpolation, shape-preserving approximation, and Markov- and Landau-Kolmogorov-type inequalities for numerical differentiation. His current work addresses Karlin's conjecture, Zolotarev polynomials, and exact constants in Jackson-Stechkin-type inequalities.

Recent publications analyze Markov-type inequalities, sampling discretization, and de Boor's conjectures in spline theory. His work often intersects mathematical analysis with computational stability and error bounds.

Scientific awards include being an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow (1995-1997). He has contributed extensively to journals such as the Journal of Approximation Theory, Constructive Approximation, and SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis.
