Alexei R. Khokhlov

Alexei R. Khokhlov is a distinguished academic at Moscow State University, where he serves as Vice-Rector since 2008 and as Full Professor since 1988. He is Head of the Chair of Polymer Physics and Crystallophysics within the Physics Department at Moscow State University.

Dr. Khokhlov graduated from Moscow State University in 1977, earned his PhD there in 1979, and completed his Doctor of Science (Habilitation) in 1983. His academic career at Moscow State University progressed from Assistant Professor (1979-1984), to Associate Professor (1984-1988), to Full Professor (1988-present).

Khokhlov's research spans multiple areas of polymer science, with a focus on statistical physics of macromolecules, physical chemistry of polyelectrolytes and ionomers, and microphase separation in polymer systems. His work also encompasses polymer liquid crystals, polyelectrolyte responsive gels, topological restrictions in polymer systems, and computer simulation of polymer systems. His research has significant applications in biomimetic polymers and proton-conducting polymer membranes.

With approximately 530 scientific papers, 7 books, and 25 article reviews to his name, Khokhlov has accumulated over 8,700 citations and maintains an h-index of 46, demonstrating the substantial impact of his work in the field of polymer science.

His international collaborations include adjunct professorships at State University of New York at Stony Brook and University of Ulm, as well as visiting positions at Nagoya University and University of Copenhagen.
