Alexandre Bonafos is Associate Professor of Francophone Studies and Graduate Director at the University of South Carolina's Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in French language, literature, and culture with a focus on post-1800 France.
His research examines intersections of literature, history and art history in 19th-century France, particularly travel discourses, archaeological practices, and heritage politics under the July Monarchy and Second Empire. Bonafos supervises the French House & Club, serves as faculty liaison for Pi Delta Phi, and is Faculty Fellow at Maxcy College.
