Professor Alexandra Scott is a renowned double bass educator and performer affiliated with the Institute for Artistic Instrumental Studies at HMTM (Hochschule für Tonkunst München) since 2020. Previously, she taught at the Karlsruhe University of Music (2012–2020) and has conducted masterclasses globally at institutions including the Royal Academy of Music in London, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and Universidade de São Paulo. Her career combines academic instruction, orchestral leadership, and chamber music performance.
Her research and teaching focus on double bass pedagogy, historical performance practice, and Baroque music, informed by her extensive performance experience as principal double bass with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (2007–2020) and NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a founding member of the Baroque ensemble l'Accademia Giocosa.
Alexandra Scott’s career includes jury roles at prestigious competitions such as the German Music Competition, Jugend Musiziert, and the Royal Academy of Music Double Bass Competition. She received foundational training at the Yehudi Menuhin School and later studied with esteemed artists including Chi-chi Nwanaku, Duncan McTier, and Rinat Ibragimov.
