Alexandra Rodler-Rørbo

Alexandra Rodler-Rørbo is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and a Research Associate at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAI), where she leads the Junior Group "Object Itineraries" as an ERC Starting Grant HUE recipient. She is affiliated with the Geochemistry Lab at ÖAI and serves as a member of the Young Academy of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

Her research focuses on interdisciplinary archaeometric investigations of inorganic and organic archaeological materials, particularly examining:

• Provenance and trade networks of ancient pigments
• Production technologies and material synthesis in antiquity
• Diachronic changes in production systems during cultural/political shifts
• Color significance across Late Bronze Age to Early Middle Ages

Recent publications highlight her expertise in pigment analysis, isotope geochemistry, and material sourcing, with particular emphasis on Roman polychromy, Egyptian blue, and Neoproterozoic geological records. She actively supervises academic work and teaches at multiple universities.
