Alexandra Lumbers

Dr Alexandra Lumbers serves as the full-time Academic Director at Jesus College, University of Oxford, overseeing academic policy, administration, and strategic planning. She holds the roles of Senior Tutor, Tutor for Admissions (undergraduate and postgraduate), and Tutor for Graduates. Her responsibilities include managing the Academic Office team, student recruitment/induction, academic progress monitoring, and disciplinary oversight. She supports graduate students and oversees admissions for ~170 new students annually.

Education: BA and MA in History from the University of Southampton, followed by a DPhil in early-modern British History at Brasenose College, Oxford (completed 2005). Prior roles include teaching at Keble College, Deputy Registrar at St Peter’s College, Research Facilitator in the Humanities Division, and Senior Development Officer for Humanities.

Her career focuses on academic governance, student welfare, and institutional strategy within Oxford’s collegiate system. She engages with schools to promote admissions and is accessible to students and applicants via email or telephone.
