Alexandra Lopes

Alexandra Lopes is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences at Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She holds a PhD in Translation Studies and is a researcher at the Communication and Culture Research Centre, coordinating the 'Literature and the Global Contemporary' group. Her research focuses on translation history, literary studies, and cultural mediation, with notable publications including The Age of Translation (2017) and Mediations of Disruption in Post-conflict Cinema (2016). She has translated works by authors like Peter Handke and Herta Müller. Lopes has contributed to projects such as Culture@Work (EU-funded) and Lugares de O’Neill (Gulbenkian Foundation).

Her academic roles include teaching modules like Cultural Theories and Translation and Worldmaking. Lopes' work bridges literary analysis, translation studies, and cultural history, emphasizing transnational literary networks and the role of translation in shaping cultural identities.
