Alexandra Leitão

Alexandra Leitão is an Associate Professor at Católica Porto Business School, part of Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics (Environmental Economics specialization) from Nova School of Business and Economics, a Master’s in Finance from Faculdade de Economia, Universidade do Porto, and a Bachelor’s in Economics from the same institution.

Her research focuses on Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, with emphasis on sustainability challenges such as circular economy transitions, climate policy, and macroeconomic implications of environmental issues. She also explores comparative macroeconomic trends across nations.

Recent publications address topics like the EU’s performance on climate goals (UN SDG13), circular economy strategies, community-based climate action, and cross-country business cycle analysis between Germany and Portugal. Her work bridges environmental science, policy, and economic theory to advance sustainable development frameworks.
