Alexandra (Alex) Davis is an Assistant Professor and Advisor for Last Names I-P in the Department of Sociology and Justice Studies at Eastern Washington University (EWU). They hold a PhD in Criminology, Law, and Justice from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), with specializations in violence studies and gender/women’s studies. Prior to this, they earned an MA from UIC and a BS in Criminology/Criminal Justice (with minors in Forensic Science and Mathematics) from Chaminade University of Honolulu. Their research focuses on gender- and race-based violent crimes, bias crimes, and the intersection of crime with media, law, and Indigenous perspectives.
Teaching interests include research methods, statistics, crime and media, and law-related courses. They have provided expert commentary on local news stations (KXLY and KHQ) regarding social media’s role in violent/hate crimes and criminal investigations in the Inland Northwest. Davis identifies as a critical criminologist with roots in Minnesota, emphasizing community-oriented scholarship and decolonial methodologies.
