Alexandr Kulakov

Dr. Alexandr Kulakov is a Lecturer (Teaching) in Construction Economics at the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, University College London (UCL). His research focuses on industrial organization, productivity analysis, and financial modeling within the UK construction industry, with emphasis on sectoral dynamics and risk prediction.

• Education: PhD in Economics (2024) and first-class BSc in Economics (2017) from UCL.

Research Interests: Kulakov’s work bridges micro-, meso-, and macroeconomic datasets to analyze fragmentation and performance in the built environment. His research applies financial econometrics to construction firms’ capital structure, insolvency risks, and make/buy decisions. Recent publications explore productivity measurement methodologies and empirical failure prediction models.

Teaching: He leads modules on infrastructure finance, project risk management, and economic activity measurement, while also teaching construction economics, financial modeling, and sectoral performance analysis at UCL.
