Alexander Thomson

Alexander Thomson is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Snow Algal Ecology at the Scottish Marine Institute (SAMS UHI), University of the Highlands and Islands, based in Oban, United Kingdom. His molecular ecology research addresses critical marine environmental challenges with a focus on polar and temperate ecosystems.

He earned his PhD from the University of the Highlands and Islands in 2021 through doctoral research on the population genomics of sugar kelp (Saccharina latissima). His academic foundation supports interdisciplinary investigations spanning genomics, physiology, and conservation biology.
