Alexander Thompson

Alexander Thompson is a Professor of Political Science at The Ohio State University and a Senior Fellow at the Mershon Center for International Security Studies. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. His research focuses on international relations, particularly international organizations, law, and U.S. foreign policy, with notable work on the UN Security Council and climate change governance.

Thompson’s book *Channels of Power* (2009) won the Chadwick Alger Prize and J. David Singer Book Award. He co-directs the Globalization Workshop at Mershon and has taught courses on international institutions, environmental politics, and the United Nations. His awards include the Political Science Department’s Outstanding Teaching Award.

His articles span journals like *International Organization* and *European Journal of International Relations*, addressing topics such as multilateralism, investment treaties, and climate regime design. He has held leadership roles, including Associate Editor of *Security Studies* and Director of Graduate Studies in Political Science.
